GIG – The Art of Michigan Music Returns to Jackson on November 8, 2025
Jackson, MI – Mark your calendars! GIG – The Art of Michigan Music is back and better than ever. Join us on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM at ART 634 in Jackson, Michigan, for a dynamic celebration of Michigan music’s visual art culture.
GIG – The Art of Michigan Music is an annual event that shines a spotlight on the visual storytelling behind Michigan’s music. From photography to poster art, album design to live music — GIG celebrates the creative forces behind the scenes and on stage.
More than just a festival, GIG is a celebration of art, sound, and community — bringing together musicians, artists, students, and fans for one unforgettable day. Our visual art experience 2025 offers an immersive, daylong event featuring art exhibits, workshops, an art market, and live musical performances — and it’s pretty much all free!
Event Highlights
Art Gallery & Market (12 PM – 6 PM | Free): Explore concert photography, gig posters, album covers, t-shirt designs, vinyl records, and music-inspired art — all created by Michigan-based artists. The gallery also features vendors offering a variety of music-themed art. New this year, we’re partnering with Jackson College's Graphic Design Department, showcasing student poster designs.
Workshops & Educational Panels (1 PM – 5 PM | Free) Engage with working professionals, enthusiasts, and students in a series of interactive sessions exploring the visual side of the music scene. This year will include sessions on social media marketing and two new panels: One featuring graphic artists and the other concert photographers. You’ll be able to ask questions and learn how these visual artists create their stunning works.
Live Music (7 PM – 10:30 PM | $15) Close out the night with live performances from a lineup of Michigan bands bringing their original music to the stage. Tickets go on sale soon — check back at gigartmich.org or subscribe to our newsletter for updates.

Testimonials from our 2024 Experience Survey
“It was the first exploration of the business side of the industry I have seen promoted and given this much attention.”
“Showcasing the artists that are generally behind the scenes. Media and tour photography and poster art is often appreciated but people never get to meet the artists behind it. Also, an awesome variety of Michigan Music from all over the state.”
“Featuring the poster art, photography and merch design "behind the music" was very unique. It felt like it should be an ongoing exhibit space for this type of local art.”
“The event structure was interesting with a gallery to see the art from other artists around the state, while the entire event focused primarily on the State of Michigan...Having sessions to learn about different aspects of the business on both the musical side and the artist side was the standout aspect.”
“The appreciation that went towards the concert photographers. Being able to look around at others’ photos and be surrounded by people who have a similar mindset. The galleries I have attended never dedicate an area to concert photos!

Our Mission
GIG—The Art of Michigan Music Foundation celebrates and amplifies Michigan's rich music culture by highlighting the visual artists who shape its creative identity. Through exhibitions, workshops, and live events, we provide a platform for photographers, graphic designers, and videographers who craft concert posters, album art, band t-shirts, logos, and music videos—essential visual elements that elevate and support Michigan’s vibrant music community.
GIG—The Art of Michigan Music Foundation is committed to preserving and enriching Michigan's rich musical heritage while nurturing current and future generations of visual artists.
Our Vision
We envision a future where Michigan-based visual artists who contribute to the music community are celebrated and supported. Our long-term goal is to raise funds to provide stipends for artists participating in our annual showcase, GIG - The Art of Michigan Music. By alleviating the financial barriers of art show participation, we aim to create a platform that not only highlights their work but also offers meaningful opportunities for them to connect with the public and sell their creations.
